Featured is a wonderful Antique Small Bronze figure of "Jeu De Grace". The french phrase translates literaly as "the graceful game" In excellent original condition, the piece has retained much of its original painted portions, and has no breaks or repairs. The artist is Brousse, and the plaque on the front also bares that name. ("Par" is the french word ofr "by") Tossing and catching a hoop on two sticks was a very popular game. Here for the "fasionable" the hoop has been covered with ribbons and the sticks have guards to protect the delicate. The artist has used this as the reason to show off the lovely "grace" of the lady and she bends and twists to catch the hoop. A graceful game indeed. Notice the attention to detail since the lady has attached her feathered hand fan to her dress to have it with her as she plays. One doesn't want to be come over heated. This lovely piece dates from about 1880-90, and measures 5 5/8" in ht, 2 5/8" in width, and is 2 1/4" in depth. For the collector of period bronzes, or a great accent piece, this fine antique Bronze should not be missed!! Was 495.00/now 350.00 you save 145.00!
